Broken, After Dark –
I like Katie and she comes off as a very believable character. She has cycles in her life where she’s a rock star in her on her professional stage of working full time. In her spare time she’s blogging her sexual fantasies, bitching about her asshole ex husband and the antics of her four year old daughter. She also gets down in the dumps once in a while and bawls all over her teddy bear. She has a poor body image and worries over silly things like spilling coffee on a first date. I totally get Katie’s insecurities and fears because I suffer from some of them myself.
Johnathan is more complex. He’s crushing on Katie through her blog. Jonathan works up the courage to reach out. What follows is a brief glimpse of impeccable writing skills. Deja-Moo is the best line in the book. Curious? Read the book. I enjoyed it as a light read. It’s a short story, but the reader doesn’t get short changed. There are emotional roller coasters, laughter, joy, angst and some stellar erotic scenes. Kudos to Kayla Lords for keeping the reader engaged.
